THE CONTENT OF THIS WEBSITE HAS NOT BEEN APPROVED BY THE COURT This Website Provides Information About A California Class Action Lawsuit Against The Wackenhut Corporation The case is Lubin, et al. v. Wackenhut Corp., et al., Los Angeles County Superior Court Case Number BC326996 (Judicial Council Coordination Proceeding No. 4545). This website is brought to you by the California law firm of Weinberg, Roger & Rosenfeld, A Professional Corporation. Our law firm has been retained by Security Officers who allege that Wackenhut did not provide them off-duty meal breaks and did not authorize and permit them to take paid 10-minute rest breaks. Weinberg, Roger & Rosenfeld, along with two other law firms, filed a Coordinated Complaint in the above lawsuit, styled as a class action, on behalf of a class of similarly situated Security Officers/Guards that currently work or have worked for Wackenhut in California at any time between January 7, 2001 and the present. On March 3, 2010, the Court entered an Order Granting Class Certification. The Court's Order states, in pertinent part, that: - A class action is proper as to all causes of action of the Coordinated Complaint, with the exception of the causes of action for penalties under PAGA that are expressly not subject to plaintiffs' motion. - The class to be certified is defined as: "all non-exempt Security Officers employed by Wackenhut in California during the Class Period of January 7, 2001 to the present." On October 28, 2010, the Court of Appeal DENIED Wackenhut's Petition for Writ of Mandate challenging the Trial Court's Order Granting Class Certification On November 19, 2010, the California Supreme Court DENIED Wackenhut's Petition for Review and Wackenhut's Application for Stay William A.
